Shoppers across Bracknell have said that the return of a post office following it’s closure last year is ‘great news’ for the community.
Harmans Water post office, located within the large shopping precinct within the small Bracknell suburb, closed in March 12,2022 to the disappointment of many residents.
News of the re-opening at the Londis convenience store has created an exciting buzz throughout the area from people who used the service on a weekly basis.
Following the announcement of the re-opening, which will happen in May 2023, Caroline Anne Lewes said that ‘it was a bit bonkers getting rid of it’.
At the time, the Post Office wrote a letter to say that the post office would close because the postmaster had resigned.
Gloria Keighley said: “I believe it was Martins/Mcolls who closed the shop? Good luck to the staff at Londis, always friendly & helpful.”
Di Flatt also commented saying: "Great news. Just hope the staff will be more friendly".
Welcoming the news, councillor Chris Turrell (Conservative, Harmans Water), said: “I am very pleased to hear that there will be a post office in The Square again.
“This facility is very important to local residents, many of whom have been on touch with me about it.
“I am glad Londis have stepped up to provide this important additional service, and I wish them all the best with it.”
