A Bracknell care home resident has celebrated her 101st birthday this month by sharing the secret to a long and happy life.
Gertrude Saunders, also known as Trudy, marked the special day surrounded by friends and family at Bickerton House on Warfield Road.
Throughout her life, Trudy, who was born in Willenhall in Wolverhampton just after the first world war, has enjoyed dancing, knitting and is also an accomplished baker.
She said that the secret to living a long and happy life is to ‘keep busy’.
Erika Smith, Home Manager at Bickerton House, said: “Trudy is a much-loved resident here at Bickerton House and it was fantastic to help her celebrate this incredible milestone.
“Everything we do is centred around supporting residents to lead fulfilling lives, which is why we are always keen to celebrate special milestones. Trudy 101st birthday was no exception, and it was wonderful to raise a glass together on her special day. Cheers to Trudy!”
Bickerton House celebrated the big day with balloons and banners in their bistro area, including a special cake made by the homes talented chef.
