A NEW community hub that is hoped to one day be the beating heart of the area is looking for a manager to take to the helm.

Buckler's Park is a develop that will house up to 1,000 homes on a 102-hectare site off Old Wokingham Road in Crowthorne.

Plans, first approved in 2015, also include shops, a primary school, care home, and the country park.

Buckler's Park Community Hub has been created against the backdrop of Buckler’s Forest SANG (suitable alternative natural greenspace), and boasts a number of facilities, including café, large sports hall, meeting rooms and tennis courts.

Bracknell Forest Council said it hopes the community hub will be fully operational later in 2023, but first is looking for an operational manager to take on the running of the hub.

The council is currently looking for a not-for-profit organisation to bring this hub to life and to be the heart of the community, bringing a number of activities and services to local people.

Bracknell Forest councillor John Harrison, executive member for culture, delivery and public protection, said: "This brand-new hub is one of a number of hubs we are developing across Bracknell Forest, working with the local community.

“Our vision is for this hub to bring people of all ages together, whether to enjoy a cup of tea and a chat to reduce feelings of social isolation, or to get active using the sports facilities, to help with mental health and wellbeing.

“We’re looking for the right operator who can bring this vision to fruition and be the new heart of the local community.”
