BURGLARS have targeted two neighbouring homes, attempting to break-in through the back of one house before successfully ransacking the home next door.

Glass patio doors were smashed at one home in Hawkins Close during attempts to jemmy the door open.

The damage was discovered after someone living at one home reported hearing a cracking noise coming from the back of their house.

It came after someone knocked at their front door - which they chose not to answer at 7pm.

Although the burglars failed to gain entry there, the owners of a neighbouring home returned home and found burglars had broken in through the back door and ransacked the property.

Items were removed from the bedroom and the front door was left open.

The residents say they were away from home, which was left secure, between 3pm and 10.20pm on February 1.

Investigating officer PC 5584 Naomi Padget said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, heard or seen anything untoward or who may have CCTV or Dashcam recordings of activity in and around the area during the relevant times or other information to report it to Thames Valley Police either online or by calling our 24-hour enquiry centre on 101, quoting reference 43230049033.
