A popular fast-food chain has announced further delays in the opening of its new restaurant in Bracknell town centre.

The much-awaited restaurant was due to open in summer 2022, but the date was pushed back due to ‘supply issues outside their control'.

Six months on from the initial opening date, the restaurant chain has announced it is ‘in ongoing negotiations' with the prospective franchisee.

And Wimpy has promised that its plans to open a restaurant are still ongoing.

A Wimpy spokesman said: “As a brand, we are committed to bringing Wimpy to the town and are currently in ongoing negotiations with the prospective franchisee.

“We very much hope to have some good news in the coming weeks and will let people know as soon as there are any developments.”

It was confirmed in April 2022 that husband and wife team, Del and Sukhi Ghosal, will be at the helm of Wimpy Bracknell as franchisees.

Plans for the new restaurant, which will provide an additional 20 jobs, have been underway since before the pandemic, when the previous restaurant was forced to close.

Signs first spotted in Princess Square at the beginning of 2022 had excited shoppers wanting to see the brand's return after the original Bracknell Wimpy was closed.
