An almost century-old pub in Wokingham is set to re-open following a three-month makeover.

Original oak beams, herringbone brickwork and wood burning fireplaces have been restored at The Foundry Bell, first build as a public house in London Road in 1924.

An elevated terrace and outdoor snug are two new additions available to residents on December 2 that customers in the roaring twenties won’t have had the chance to enjoy.

“After months of renovation, we’ve been waiting patiently to be able to open our doors, and the whole team is hugely excited to finally welcome locals dropping in for a pint by the fireplace, friends getting together or families hosting celebrations in our new pub,” said general manager Mason Gray.

“We’ve considered every detail, from our beautiful new interior and exterior, to our hand-picked local suppliers, everything is in place to make sure we can give guests a memorable experience.”

Included in the extensive renovation is a glass orangery and an extended terraced patio area to the front of the pub which can seat more than 250 guests at any one time.

For those braving al-fresco dining, the external seating area has been fully equipped with heaters and covered dining areas and even individual guest blankets.

Dining and drinking areas have been designed for both inside and out including cosy drinking ‘nooks’ by the original working fireplaces, to banquet-style seating for larger dining parties.

A private dining room seats up to 14 and is available to hire for special occasions.

The Foundry Bell will be open daily from 8.30am from December 2, serving brunch and throughout the day will be serving lunch through to dinner and drinks.
