A NEW survey revealed that nearly 4,000 dangerous wild animals are being privately kept in Great Britain – 43 of which are located in Berkshire alone.
International wildlife charity Born Free reviewed the number of Dangerous Wild Animal (DWA) Act licences granted by local authorities in 2020 across England, Scotland and Wales, and the variety of species being privately kept.
Local authorities in Berkshire revealed that there are two areas throughout the Royal county where there are wild animals residing with members of the public.
These include the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and West Berkshire.
The wild animals in each area include:

Vervet Monkey: 1
Capuchin Monkey: 2
Baboon: 2
Ring Tailed Lemur: 10
Rhesus Macaque: 8
Crab Eating Macaque: 8
Rhesus and Crab Eating Macaque Hybrid: 2
West Berkshire
Wolf: 10
