PLANS to restore the now closed Loch Fyne seafood and grill restaurant to its former state as a pub have been given the green light.

A major renovation project has been underway at the long-standing restaurant on London Road, Wokingham, since it officially closed in August.

The venue is to be returned to a local pub, which the website claims will be packed with 'roaring firepits, twinkling lights, and cosy hidden nooks and crannies', after being granted permission by Wokingham Borough Council’s planning team.

Previously called The Plough, owners Green King revealed the new pub will be named The Foundry Bell in a nod to the heritage of the local area - recalling the original Bell Foundry from the 13th century.

New openings manager Ed Dugdill said: “The Foundry Bell will be such a great addition to the Wokingham pub scene.

"The plans look incredible and alongside a menu that will take our guests from brunch to evening drinks with friends, it’s really exciting to be able to start talking about it!

"We can’t wait to open the doors."

Renovations will include a 'contemporary' redesign, with cosy drinking nooks, a private dining room, space for 120 diners, and an 'enhanced outdoor space'.

Bi-folding doors and a new glazed pergola will be installed to provide covered dining, as well as a side terrace with a timber pergola with corrugated steel roof for further space.

The menu will also have a makeover to include small plates and pizzas, alongside the usual pub classics.

The new site will create 40 new jobs locally from front of house to managerial roles.

The Foundry Bell is expected to officially open in December.
