Two Bracknell residents celebrated the opening of their new Ukrainian community hub this week (7/10).

Asleigh Toomey and Natalia Vil, have launched the Ukrainian Community Hub – Vsi Razom – with the vision of creating a welcoming environment for the Ukrainian community that have settled in Bracknell.

The centre, located in Princess Square, will provide a welcoming place for groups to meet, offer advisor sessions, English lessons and allow members of the public to make donations.

PC Murphy, PCSO Dowsett and PCSO Kaczmarczyk from the Bracknell NHPT who attended the grand opening said: “Congratulations to Ashleigh Toomey and Natalia Vil (Pictured), whose vision of the community hub has become reality.

“It was an amazing opening event with traditional food. The hub looks excellent!”

Sarah Walker and volunteers at the Kerith Community Church have supported the Bracknell ladies in their journey when acquiring premises as well as helping with work they do overseas and locally.

Walker said: “We believe the new community hub will be a lifeline for many local Ukrainian families seeking support, advice, practical help & friendship.”

Ashleigh Toomey says: “We have been overwhelmed by the support of the local community to our Ukrainian appeal and wanted to find a way to continue to help Ukrainians new to the area that could benefit other people too.”
