For this week’s Bracknell Nostalgia, we are going look to back at just some of Queen Elizabeth II’s previous visits to Wokingham, Ascot, and Bracknell.
Last Thursday, September 8, the world was informed that Her late Majesty had passed away at the age of 96.
Over the last seven decades, Her Royal Majesty has represented the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth in countless countries across the globe, whilst also visiting numerous places in and around England.
The much-loved Head of State was the longest-reigning monarch to have ever lived, and millions of people across the globe have left tributes to the Queen.
One of these well-wishes was from the Ascot Racecourse, a venue that the Her late Majesty frequently visited.
Sir Francis Brooke, who was the Queen’s representative at the racecourse, said: “The nation mourns the loss of a much-loved and respected Monarch.
“The world of racing has lost one of its general supporters.
“We at Ascot are privileged to have so many memories of Her Majesty The Queen at this, her racecourse, including some wonderful victories in the Royal colours.
“We offer our deepest sympathies to His Majesty The King and the whole Royal Family.”
For the vast majority of this year, Queen Elizabeth II spent most of her time at Windsor Castle, which is where her beloved husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh died.
