Residents complain of ‘significant overdevelopment’ in the area after plans to build new homes in Sandhurst were submitted.

They propose the development of two properties on land to the rear of a dwelling called The Russets, on Hancombe Road, which is currently used as a residential garden.

The outline application has received four objections from neighbours of nearby Sandy Lane who feel that the plan would cause “significant overdevelopment” in the area putting local amenities, such as schools and doctors, “under pressure”.

Amanda Warner said the “Victorian feel” of the village is “in jeopardy” and the area is in danger of being “seriously overdeveloped” if more homes are “crammed” in.

W Fripp noted that there are now eight additional houses “in various states of application and development” within 100 sqm of their property.

The resident complained the proposals are “not at all in keeping” with the area and this latest application is a “bridge too far” due to the “significant strains” it would put on local schools.

The applicant submitted designs showing plans for both properties to be two-storey, three-bedroom houses with attached garages.

Ms Warner says any homes built above a single storey would be “massively detrimental” to residents’ outlook and privacy, which she notes would have a “hugely negative impact” on the value of her property.
