1. Brainy student feared to have lost university place after exam paper 'goes missing'

Bracknell News:

A brainy student feared she would lose her place at a top university after the exam board bungled her A level results - and gave her a token C grade.

Lidia Goonatilaka (doub corr), 18, had secured a conditional spot to read English Literature at King's College London.

She needed to achieve three A grades to secure her place and, as a top student, she was confident she'd reach the requirement.

2. McDonald's reveals popular menu item will return next month

Bracknell News:

McDonald’s Monopoly is returning to the fast food restaurant next month and the prizes have been revealed.

Fans of the popular game could win a range of prizes while playing including four £100,000 cash prizes and 20 MINI Electric Cars.

Other prizes include a £2,000 holiday with TUI which 85 customers could claim plus 1000 customers could get their hands on a McDonald’s Gold Card, giving them one free meal every week for a year.

3. Homeowners will have to tear down extension at double cost of what they paid

Bracknell News:

Homeowners will have to tear down their £18,000 extension at a cost of more than twice that after cowboy builders left the project incomplete. 

The dodgy work has resulted in Rose Property Solutions Berkshire Ltd boss Jordan Guyett being forced to pay thousands of pounds in compensation. 

The Bracknell man, of Target Hill, was commissioned to carry out the extension to a home in early 2021.

4. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to attend school near Bracknell as Cambridge's move nearby

Bracknell News:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are to embark on the next major phase of their life by moving their family to Windsor, with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all starting at the same new school.

William and Kate will set up home in Adelaide Cottage in Windsor’s Home Park, and the children will join the co-educational private Lambrook School near Ascot in Berkshire in September.

The duke and duchess are seeking a life away from the goldfish bowl of their official residence Kensington Palace in west London in a bid to put their children first and give them more freedom.

5. Inspectors slam 'inadequate' care home that 'dehumanised' its residents

Bracknell News:

A Bracknell Forest care home has been put into special measures after being rated ‘inadequate’ by government healthcare inspectors.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) made the decision to make an unplanned inspection after being ‘prompted over concerns received about people’s safety and wellbeing’.

After observations, feedback from staff and assessment of risk assessments and medicine management the facility was deemed ‘inadequate’.
