Landowners have once again been busy applying for new developments across the boroughs this week.   

In Bracknell there has been a plan submitted proposing the conversion of a former pharmacist in Crowthorne into a ground floor flat, as well as an approved outline application to build 27 homes at a disused sports site owned by Bracknell-based technology company 3M. 

Meanwhile in Wokingham, there has been a Listed Building application submitted that outlines plans for a new sports hall and swimming pool in Sindlesham, as well as a proposal to change the use of the Swallowfield Renewal Centre into a one-bedroom house.

Plan to convert a former pharmacist in Crowthorne into a ground floor flat (22/00532/FUL)

An application has been submitted proposing the conversion of the former pharmacy into a two-bedroom ground floor flat in Crowthorne. 

Consent was granted in 2019 for the part change of use of the ground floor into a flat but involved incorporating the 50sqm retail space to the front.  

The pharmacy ceased trading in 2016 and efforts to market the property have not attracted any interest from retailers. 

The proposed flat would comprise of one bedroom with study space, as well as a living room, kitchen, bathroom and outdoor amenity space. 

Approved outline application to build 27 homes at a disused sports site in Binfield (19/01004/OUT)

An outline application to build a new housing development in Binfield has been granted after planning obligations were agreed. 

The redevelopment of land between Turnpike Road and Cain Road, owned by science-based technology company 3M, will see the construction of 27 houses, was first validated by Bracknell Forest Council in November 2019 with the legal agreement framework completed this week. 

The outlines the main access from Turnpike Road, as well as associated vehicle parking and landscaping following the demolition of all existing buildings and clearance of the site.   

The site, which measures approximately 1.29 hectares, currently contains three tennis courts, a single-storey pavilion building and a railway carriage, all of which are now disused and in a state of disrepair.   

Listed Building application outlining plans for a new sports hall and swimming pool in Sindlesham (222319) 

Bracknell News:

A Listed Building application has been submitted for a new sports facilities and improved parking allocation at a school in Sindlesham. 

The proposal 0.7-hectare site is located within the grounds of Reddam House School, which was formerly known as Bearwood College. 

The application outlines plans for a new sports hall, replacement of the swimming pool exterior and demolition of three ancillary single-storey buildings. The proposal also aims to deliver a new car park with 16 parking spaces. 

The submission aims to deliver improved facilities for the school whilst also securing improved sustainability of the existing swimming pool. 

Proposed change the use of the Swallowfield Renewal Centre into a one-bedroom house (222167) 

Bracknell News:

Plans have been submitted for the proposed change of use of a conference and education cente in Swallowfield into a one-bedroom home. 

The application site comprises The Renewal Centre and Honeysuckle Barn which are located on the south side of Church Road. 

The new dwelling would contain a bedroom and connecting study, a lounge/dining room, a kitchen and a shower room at ground floor level with a snug providing a second reception room within the roof space. 

The plan also outlines proposals for associated amenity space and two parking spaces to the rear, plus the erection of two sheds – one for bicycle storage and another for garden tools.
