Bracknell residents have hit back against the announcement that five new shops will be arriving at The Lexicon this month saying they are ‘disappointing’ and ‘useless’.

Early this week, it was announced what five new stores were set to be opened within the town’s shopping complex this Summer.

This included Gymfinity Kids, O2, Laser Clinics, Hat and Home (independent estate agents) and Hobbs womenswear.

Bracknell resident, Sonia Binge said: “Lush... Robert Dyas... Zara... Wilko.... But no, still not on the list...”

Some of these stores have been rumoured to be appearing in Bracknell’s many empty shops units but so far, news has not dropped of their arrival.

Sarah Edwards expresses her disappointment, believing that a small Tescos, Lush or Yankee Candle would be good options for the town centre.

One resident believes that with the ‘over-priced’ rent quoted for a Lexicon unit, stores are unlikely to remain in the town for more than six months.

In response to a number of readers calling for the arrival of such shops Cllr Marc Brunel Walker, said: “Wilko, Robert Dyas, Burger King, Tesco ... NO interest .... they simply dont want to open a store here in Bracknell.”

On our Facebook page, Kris Woodward blamed the lack of businesses within the shopping complex on the ‘astronomical’ rates within the town centre.

Much has been said in the past about the inclusion of local companies and independent businesses throughout Bracknell.

Reader, Kevin Norman commented: “More shops Bracknell don’t need the town need local companies.”

However, the one question that readers and residents alike would like to know is…Where’s Zara!!
