A BP petrol station can open its doors earlier each day after the council gave plans the green light.

The premises, located on New Bath Road in Twyford, were granted planning permission in 2014 for the redevelopment of the existing petrol station – comprising a new forecourt, canopy, shop, car parking and car wash.

The original permission limited the use of the site to the hours of 7am to 10pm Mondays to Saturdays and 7:30am to 10pm on Sundays.

However, the company outlined the need for a “minor change” to morning opening times in order to provide an “important improvement” in the services for customers.

Following approval, the site is now able to operate between the hours of 6am to 10pm Mondays to Saturdays and from 7am to 10pm on Sundays – except for the car wash which can still only operate between the hours of 8am and 9:30pm Mondays to Saturdays and 9am to 9pm on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Any work relating to the operation of the petrol station, including tanker deliveries, is not allowed to take place outside of these newly defined hours.

The applicant said the changes will help cars avoid having to wait for the site to open and “reduce any noise and inconvenience”.
