A popular Bracknell pub has said goodbye to its land lady this month after less than a year of creating a dedicated hub for the community.

As of June 6, The Golden Farmer closed for a six-week refurb after which Kas Cox will not be returning as land lady.

She took over the Easthampstead business in October 2021 with the goal of creating and moulding the space into one of community values.

She posted on the Golden Farmer Facebook page announcing her departure: “I would like to thank all of the locals and the community for welcoming me, I love the area & the people that much that I will be staying in Bracknell & taking over The Woodcutters - I would love to see you at my new venture.”

Ms Cox will be taking over the running of Woodcutters, the public house on Bere Road in Martins Herron.

Locals from the Golden Farmers wrote their well wishes and words of thanks for her time and dedication at The Golden Farmer.

Kell Sharman said: “We all love you kas the farmer won’t be the same without you. Definitely see you at the cutters.”

Another loyal customer, Lauradee Flanagan Giles said: “Wow!! I did not see that one coming kas! What a real Shame, you'll be really missed. Good luck on ventures new and we will pop in and see you some time, lots of love.”

Customers and locals celebrated with Kas on June 5, where they showed their appreciation for her commitment to the community.
