Bracknell shoppers have been seeing a lot of changes happen within the town centre over the last few years.

From the beginning on the town centre regeneration project to the loss of stores due to Covid and now the addition of new shops filling empty units throughout the Lexicon and Princess Square.

Shops such as Wimpy and Sports Direct are on the horizon for the next couple of months.

We asked our readers what shops they would like to see in Bracknell town centre as we see a change to the town’s shopping experience.

A popular option for readers and shoppers alike was a host of smaller independent stores where there is a sense of community.

Lorraine Horner said: “I would like to see one large space in princess square rented out to small independent businesses, they each have a section. Smart indoor market if you like. Gives lower rent to start ups. With spaces for just a day at weekend if trying to start up while having a job.”

Diana Toft-Brench also agreed with this saying that lowering the rent in Princess would give independent stores a chance to set up in the empty units.

One reader said: “Fishmonger, green grocer, butcher -the central area really need good quality food shops not just supermarket.”

Although Woolworths and Toys R Us have unfortunately left the high street Justin Smith has strung the idea that Bracknell should be the re-launch birthplace for Woollies and the giant toy store.

Woolworths was hugely popular among the 147 comments that were left by readers.

Zara however was the most popular out of all the shops. This have been because of the potential that it may be coming to the Lexicon after moving from Windsor.

Other popular stores that were high on the list were Lush, Debenhams,  Bentalls, and a cosy local tearoom for people to relax while shopping.
