Plans to convert a chiropractor into residential accommodation in Wokingham has been approved by the council.

The applicant submitted plans to redevelop the Wokingham Chiropractic Centre at 29 Denton Road, a family run practice established in 1994, into a two-bedroom ground floor flat.

The building, which occupies the corner plot where Sturges Road meets Denton Road, was previously used as a residential dwelling so it will be reverted to its original use.

The site is surrounded by residential development, with the Wokingham Town Centre Conservation Areas located to the south of the building.

Whilst not situated within the conservation area itself, the trees located on the front boundary are covered by a group Tree Preservation Order (TPO) – meaning they have been assessed and identified as having ‘amenity value’ – and will, therefore, be retained and protected during the work.

Whilst there are no plans to increase the height or floor area in the development, alterations will include the creation of internal walls to facilitate the installation of bathrooms, a kitchen area, and a lounge.  There will be no changes to the exterior.

Currently, vehicle access is provided off Denton Road and there are dedicated parking spaces to the north-east of the building. No amendments will be made to either provision.
