TWO arm wrestlers who train in Slough took home the trophy as they competed in a national championship.

Electrician Ben McGibbon, of Bracknell, and landscaper Mark McGinley, of Woodley, both train at Slough Slammers Arm Wrestling Club.

Competing in the championship, Ben came first in in left and second in right in the -90kg category.

And Mark came first in left and right in the -105kg category.

The pair have now become professional sit-down arm wrestlers.

They said the competition was hard fought with some “good battles throughout the day”.

After many setbacks including injuries, covid and lockdowns things finally came together for the pair.

Both of them said they were overwhelmed with the support they’d had.

They said they are now looking forward to the next chapter in their arm wrestling journeys as professional sit down arm wrestlers.

They also want to thank the British Sit down Arm wrestling Association for hosting the event in Bognor Regis on Saturday, May 14.

The Slough Slammers Arm Wrestling Club trains at the Red Lion pub, on the High Street, Burnham, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Arm wrestling is a sport with two opponents who face each other with their elbows placed on a table, holding hands, and they attempt to force the other person’s hand down.

The duo proudly posed with their trophies after winning at the event.
