Bracknell shoppers have displayed fears after new signs were put up in a Tesco car park in Warfield.

The signs posted around the car park outline the duration that Tesco customers are permitted to park when visiting the superstore on County Lane.

A maximum stay during store opening hours has been amended to three hours and outside visiting hours the maximum duration is 15 minutes.

Some shoppers have stated that a stay of three hours is unreasonable in some circumstances where it may not be enough time to complete a weekly shop.

The sign notes that: “The car park is controlled by ANPR cameras and/or attendant patrols.”

Tesco’s have stated on the notice that a parking charge notice of £70 may be issued when exceeding the maximum stay.

It does say however that disabled blue badge holders will be exempt from the maximum stay after registering the vehicle at the Customer Service Desk.

People that may try parking in a disabled bay without a valid blue badge, parking in an electric vehicle bay without charging and parking in a parent and child bay unaccompanied by young children will also run the risk of receiving a fine.

This has been met with a positive response on Facebook.

In a statement to The News, a spokesperson from Tesco’s said: “To make sure there’s a good availability of car parks for customers shopping at our Bracknell North store, we’ve reintroduced a three-hour maximum stay while the store is open.

“Customers who need some extra time to finish their shopping can speak to our colleagues at the Customer Service Desk who will be happy to help.”

The system at the Bracknell north store in Warfield is being managed by Horizon on behalf of Tesco’s.

The company have been contacted by The News for a statement.
