It’s been an unusually slow week for planning applications in Bracknell, but it’s been business as usual in Wokingham with a number of commercial applications being submitted and approved.

In Bracknell, an application was refused for the proposed development of six new residential dwellings on land in Winkfield Row.

Meanwhile in Wokingham, plans have been approved for the redevelopment of the former Auto Trader offices into commercial premises and car park. A proposal has been given the go-ahead to erect a new outbuilding to be used as a day care on Basingstoke Road, as well as a submission to build new temporary changing rooms at a school.

The site, currently made up of grassland, is located to the north of Winkfield Row and to the South-West of Winkfield village. To the west of the proposed development area is a number of residential buildings, including Ronans – a Grade II Listed building.

The plan received 11 objections from the public and was not even entertained at appeal.

Approved plan to re-develop the former Auto Trader offices (214046)

Bracknell News:

A proposal to demolish Auto Trader House and Hartman House at Danehill in Lower Earley to make way for a single industrial and logistics building and a car park for 48 vehicles has been approved.

Planning permission had initially been granted for the redevelopment of the site for 76 residential units and for the conversion of the existing buildings into 26 homes. However, neither application was implemented.

The site will be accessed from a new entrance, located in a similar position to the existing one but re-formed for articulated vehicles. There will be green space at the entrance which allows for signage, car parking - including blue badge spaces and cycle stands - and planting.

Bracknell News:

Permission has been granted for the erection of a cabin styled outbuilding at a residential property on Basingstoke Road, which will be used as a child-minding facility.

The outbuilding has already been erected by the applicant, replacing a chicken coop which was previously in location of the site.

The building will be 6.096 metres by 2.74 metres in height.

Operating hours of the proposed use are Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 5:30pm with an average attendance of five children and a maximum capacity of eight.

Permission granted to erect two modular units to be used as school changing facilities (220678)

Bracknell News:

An application to build two temporary modular units for changing rooms at St Crispin’s school has been approved.

The school, situated on London Road in Wokingham, currently has 1,230 students. Due to increasing student numbers over the last 70 years, some facilities within the school do not meet the current requirements of the school.

The building will provide additional changing room facilities for 100 pupils – one block for males and one for females – for a period of two years.
