Developer Bloor Homes said technical issues with insallation by independent contractors is causing the delay.

A spokesman said: "Bloor Homes is fully aware of the delay in the handover of the community building to the local community, which is regrettable.

"The team is working hard to resolve this matter in discussion with the Town Council. This unfortunate delay is now due to complications with the installation of specialist technical equipment by independent contractors, which is due to be resolved by the end of the month. This will then enable the transfer of the building to take place’.

Sandhurst Town Council said they have been in conversation with Bloor Homes since planning permission was awarded in August 2017, but the company behind the development of 108 houses and a community facility have repeatedly postponed the completion date.

Sandhurst cllrs initially visited the site in September 2019 and were given a completion date of February 2020, but sadly this was repeatedly postponed by Bloor Homes, finally resulting in a promised December 2021 date, which was not met.

Sandhurst Town Council has taken the opprtunity to reassure residents that it is taking all necessary steps to ensure Bloor Homes provide a final completion and hand over date, so that the community facility can finally be enjoyed by all.

Cllr Nick Allen, Chairman of Sandhurst Town Council’s Strategy & Policy Committee, said: “It is very frustrating that the Council are still waiting to take over the community hall in Sandhurst Gardens. That we have been made to wait so long is a breach of the original planning agreement.

“This facility is much needed in the area, and we have had to turn down a number of enquiries from groups until we have it available to us.

“I hope that Bloor Homes will hand the building over soon so that we can begin the process of fitting it out for community use.”
