A school in Bracknell is set to build a new children’s nursery, having been granted planning permission.

The council approved the proposal submitted by Lambrook School, an independent boarding school in Winkfield, to convert an on-site residential building, known as Little Barn, into a nursery.

Little Barn, a two-storey building which is currently vacant, was previously used as staff accommodation which the school no longer has use for.

The plans include an internal open plan play area - which will cater for a maximum of 26 children - toilet facilities for the children and staff, a kitchen area and quiet spaces on both the ground and first floors, as well as hard surfaced areas around the building that will be used as a playground.

There will also be an office and staff rooms on the first floor for the five members of staff who will be operating the facility.

The existing Nursery is located on the ground floor of Westfield House, which is predominantly used as a boarding house for older age groups.

Current nursery fees for 2021/22 are listed as £2,195 per term for morning sessions only and £4,389 per term for full time.

The school, which is situated within 52 acres of grounds and playing fields, was founded in 1860 and now has approximately 600 pupils, both boys and girls from the age of three to thirteen.

In 1997, Lambrook School merged with Haileybury Junior School in Windsor but now stands as an Independent Charitable Trust having withdrew from the arrangement in 2009.
