Throughout the past 10 years, the maze of subways that run under Bracknell have become a hotspot for both fatal and hideous crimes.

In the early hours of the morning, a number of attacks have taken place in various underpasses across Bracknell.

The Bracknell News is investigating how safe these underpasses are to walk through.

It comes after Thames Valley Police launched an investigation after a woman was raped in the Eastern Road underpass on April 18.

Police describe the man as having a dark complexion, around 6ft 3ins and wearing a Black North Face hooded top.

The woman was attacked whilst walking through the underpass next to the roundabout.

This also prompted the council to express their condolences to the family of the victim.

Cllr John Harrison, executive member for culture, delivery and public protection, said:

“We are so very sorry to hear of the rape that occurred in Bracknell Forest on Easter Monday, our thoughts are very much with the victim of this heinous crime.

“Nobody has the right to attack and hurt someone else; we will support the police in any way we can to help bring the perpetrator to justice.”

Here's a timeline of the crime hotspots in Bracknell

May 2012

The Daily Mail reported back in 2012 that a woman was found dead in a underpass under in Bay Road, near her home in Basemoors, Bullbrook.

The report detailed how a 43-year-old woman was sadly found in a "pool of her own blood" and  had her "throat-cut".

A cyclist made the grim discovery. Bracknell man, Muhammed Shafi was arrested and jailed after being found guilty of her murder.

April 2021

The second murder investigation that was launched, almost a decade later was in the Twin Bridges Roundabout underpass involving a 34 year-old man.

Bracknell News:

The victim, known as Agapito De Sousa, was found with a serious head-injury and rushed to hospital. Sadly he passed away two days later on April 27 2021.

Although investigations continued on throughout 2021, the case was mysteriously dropped by police on November 22 of the same year.

February 2022

On February 6, a 14-year-old boy was walking through the underpass from Bracknell train station to the Lexicon when a robber grabbed him from behind and demanded his designer Gucci.

When the victim resisted he was hit in the back of the head and had his bag taken from him along with some Hugo Boss aftershave and other personal items.

The offender fled from the scene and the victim suffered a minor injury to his right eye and swelling to his forehead.
