As Easter is upon us, many will be trying to decide what to do with the kids during holidays, how to entertain the teenagers or simply something fun to sink your teeth into over the bank holidays with friends.

Before the launch of the new ‘As Water Falls’ world premier that officially opened today, April 6, journalist Nicole McBride was invited to experience the Lexicon’s full Forest Springs event and experience.

One word comes to mind when witnessing the new art installation right in the heart of the Lexicon and that is ‘Wow’.

Upon entry, the sound of trickling water and soothing music greets you and the experience begins.

When the floor to ceiling interactive light screen comes into view, the darkness of the room became even more contrasting, and the sounds of the wave pool below brought with it a sense of peace.

The ripple of water and atmospheric lights gives it an other worldly feel where both technology, light and sound collide to create a waterfall of colour.

At first glance the screen may not seem like anything special, however as you present it with the light from your phone the real magic shines through (forgive the pun).

A maximum of four people are allowed within the installation at once and when everyone has their torches lit, four pillars of white and multi-coloured light are seen merging with the rippling water below. The pool is connected to a wave machine that powers through it in regular intervals creating ripples of light throughout the room.

The partnership between the Lexicon and Bracknell Forest Council has created something that no one has ever seen before anywhere in the country.

With many town centres hosting events for Easter, the innovation that has been brought to this project is inspiring.

After experiencing the light experience, a sort of zenned out space accompanied me which was complemented by the other varying installations through the heart of town.

One installation that would put anyone into a trance after the hustle and bustle of the town, is the River Net Retreat. The blue light room which is a proven remedy for depression takes you into another world. Combined with the atmospheric music and sinking into the giant net causees a heedy mix of emotions (and proves impossible to get yourself out of). My number one top tip for this installation: do not wear a dress!

So, if you’re at a loss as to where to go over the next two weeks, this is not something to miss for all the family. If anything it certainly puts a nice twist to your regular shopping trip.
