State of the art CCTV equipment and ANRC are set to be installed within Crowthorne as a way to combat rising anti-social behaviour rates.

This is part of their anti-social behaviour initiative developed to tackle the significant spike in incidents throughout the area.

Following the bid for funding from the Police and Crime commissioner’s community fund, the parish has been awarded £5,000 to apply these new feature’s to deter and catch offenders in the act.

Melanie Saville, Crowthorne parish council clerk said: “We feel very fortunate to have been awarded even part of the community fund that has been spread all throughout the Thames Valley area.”

As well as completing upgrades to CCTV coverage including an anti-social behaviour patrol camera at Morgan’s recreation ground, the money will also go towards the commissioning of a video entry phone system for our parish office and anti climb bars on the roof of Centre.

As part of the Crowthorne Community Neighbourhood Action group, Crowthorne parish and Wokingham Without parish are working with the local police neighbourhood team to coordinate with families and local schools to stop and deter anti-social behaviour at the source.

Ms Saville said: “The local PSCOs have been invaluable in helping us to identify perpetrators and to work on community based measures to right the wrongs by meeting with the youths and their families, resulting in letters of apology, informal fines and, we hope, diversionary measures to steer youths onto a more positive pathway.

Matt Barber attended the Crowthorne Community Neighbourhood Action Group meeting in February, further evidencing the strong relationship Crowthorne Parish Council and Wokingham Without Parish Council seeks to build with TVP and other stakeholders.
