Plans to develop a new 18-hole adventure golf course in Wokingham have been approved by the council.

Wokingham Family Golf on Finchampstead Road will now begin work to re-design its existing Jurassic themed mini-golf course, as well as adding an additional six holes.

On top of the changes to the course, plans are also in place for a new entrance Kiosk, themed sculptures, and a cave waterfall feature.

The submission, which was approved on March 25, proposes to use the footprint of the existing course and extend northwards towards the current club house to incorporate the additional holes.

The proposal for the new themed course includes re-purposing the existing dinosaur sculptures, which will be relocated to suit the new design. There are 15 such ‘dino’ props on site currently, with the largest reaching a height of nearly six metres.

Wokingham Family Golf, which first opened in 2015, is also home to a floodlight driving range, a 9-hole pitch and putt golf course, footgolf course and big-hole golf, alongside a club house which incorporates the Legends bar and café

The owners are hoping the offer of an open-air experience will act as a gateway for more young people to take up golf.
