A family run business providing canine assisted learning has been nominated for local Business of the Year 2022.

In this year’s Pride of Bracknell awards the business has been shortlisted for their work in providing animal assisted interventions including a range of services to schools, colleges and universities.

The Canine Assisted Wellbeing Group, has been offering services that enhance the lives, learning and emotional wellbeing through canine support.

These have been proven successful with students’ wellbeing during the exam timetable in schools and colleges, and in many other settings.

The founder of the company, Vickie Plumer was inspired to start the business after experiencing first-hand the power that animal assisted therapy can have on your emotional and mental health.

Her vision for the company is on helping as many young people and adults as possible with the help of their team.

A child and animal bond in education is known to have several benefits, including improved motivation, improved self-confidence, reduced stress, and anxiety and improves communicational skills.

The group have sine ventured into providing assistance and services to the Workplace, Care Homes and Mental Health hospitals.

Nicola Marshall, the sales and marketing manager for the Canine Assisted Wellbeing group said: “We were so proud and delighted when we found out we had been nominated.

“We do a lot of work in the community, and very much like a family here.

“Canine Assisted Learning are going to be offering a free taster session for any school who is nominated in the ‘School of the year’ category at the Pride of Bracknell Awards. We want to give something back to the community and allow these schools to see if it would be something that they could benefit from.”
