Here's how the Reading FC player rated in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Millwall at the Select Car Leasing Stadium...

Luke Southwood- 6

Despite a soft looking goal, Southwood could do little with the close range header after Holmes lost his man. The keeper had little to do other than that.

Tom Holmes- 5

Lost his man for the all-important goal but defended solidly besides that. Millwall had few clear-cut chances in the second half.

Michael Morrison- 6

Commanded the backline well and won his headers well. Was played some difficult passes by his team-mates but dealt with them well. Had a mazy run in the first half but took on too many Millwall players and lost the ball deep in the attacking half.

Tom McIntyre- 6

Had a shaky start but grew into the game. Provided a threat on the left, with a dangerous cross for Joao with the minutes ticking on.

Andy Yiadom- 6

Provided a threat on the right but was severely under-utilised by Tom Ince on his flank. Strong in the tackle and ran hard until the end.

Andy Rinomhota - 6

Ran all over the place but wasn’t quite as effective as he has been in recent weeks. With Millwall sitting back in the second half, Rinomhota’s hard running and ability to chase wasn’t as needed. Booked for a late sliding tackle.

Danny Drinkwater - 6

One of Drinkwater’s better games, he was constantly in the action and kept Reading ticking along with his passing. Couldn’t and never really looked like finding the killer ball but worked hard and a few good tackles to boot.

Tom Ince - 6

Some really bright moments early on as he reacted well to Millwall boos. Repeatedly beat his marker and had two decent shots, both easily saved. Much quieter in the second half as he miscontrolled a decent cross from Tom McIntyre before having one more run with the ball but couldn’t pick anyone out. Needs to add more end product to his threat.

John Swift - 6

Linked up well with his teammates in the first half and was usually at the heart of Reading’s most dangerous passages of play. Struggled to make his presence felt in the second half as the Royals toiled in trying to break down a stubborn Millwall defence.

Junior Hoilett - 4

Had one moment in the second half when the ball broke his way at the back post but he couldn’t get a shot off before George Saville came across to clear. Virtually anonymous other than that. Replaced by Ovie Ejaria.

Lucas Joao - 5

Fought reasonably hard and had a pair of chances in the second half but largely failed to really get into the game. Didn’t link up effectively with his teammates and when he did, frequently found a number of Millwall defenders around him. Needs more support.

Substitutes:

Ovie Ejaria - 6

Probably should have been brought on ten or 15 minutes earlier but added something when he finally did in the 79th minute. Fought hard and even won a header but couldn’t find the moment of magic to get Reading their goal.

Yakou Meite - N/A

On for the final five minutes and barely touches the ball. Is he fit? If so, then why is he barely playing?

Scott - N/A

Replaced Ince for the last 30 seconds. Don’t think he touched the ball.
