THE town centre’s new sushi takeaway has not got off to the best of starts after being given a lowly food-hygiene rating.

Kokoro, which opened at The Avenue in the second of December, was handed a food hygiene rating of two stars just seven days after opening.

A two-star rating means ‘improvement [is] necessary’.

Following an inspection, council officers deemed said they were ‘generally satisfied’ with their confidence in the management.

However, improvement was necessary for the store’s food hygiene and safety and structural compliance.

Kokoro had a bad start to life in Bracknell even before it opened.

The sushi and bento takeaway was initially meant to open in September 2021, but this date was revised to November.

Kokoro failed to open in November but diners were eventually allowed in on December 9, 2021.

It is located in The Avenue, in the unit formerly occupied by the Revital healthy living shop.

The chain serves up katsu curry, yakisoba, teriyaki and soup dishes as well as sushi.

It also sells popular bento lunch boxes.
