A BRAND new American smokehouse boasting fantastic reviews has been awarded a five-star food hygiene rating from inspectors.

Family run restaurant Triple BBBs smokehouse in Crowthorne has had glowing reviews since opening in December last year.

Owner and pitmaster David Jotyar has brought a taste of Texas to the village high street with his British take on barbecue meat.

The highly ambitious IT consultant even built his own smoker to expertly cook his delicious oak smoked beef and Applewood smoked pork recipes to hungry diners.

The father-of-two said: "We started our soft launch approach where we've done a tasting platter under the guise of a full menu as we want to hone in on what we're doing.

"The full menu development takes place next week. I only wanted to open a couple of days a week to get it right as the reputation is really important to me.

"It really comes down to my passion for the craft of smoking using oil drums. My philosophy is bringing people together and in today's environment with everything going on barbecuing brings people together."

"I've been barbecuing since I've been able to at 16. Come rain or shine I'd be out there cooking with a couple of umbrellas.

"I'm an advocate for the British BBQ to come up as a world ranking. I want to represent Britain in American competitions but at one step at a time, as my focus is on the restaurant.

Triple BBBs smokehouse champions local brewery's who supply craft beers and source meat locally and from Spitalfields Market in London.

David said his restaurant, which he runs with his wife and brothers, has gone off to an "absolutely flying start".

"I am really humbled with the support and love from the guys in Crowthorne."

Mr Jotyar has plans to run a lunchtime service, train other pitmasters with his own BBQ school. He even has plans to open another venue.

Triple BBBs smokehouse is open Thursday - Saturday 5pm to 11pm.
