Plans for a local beloved Sandhurst community café to be closed in April are underway.

The Sandhurst café, ‘Pistashios in the park’, is situated in the heart of the neighbourhood and is said to have brought people together in the local community through great tasting food and beverages across the years.

However, it looks like it is the end of an era for ‘Pitashios’ with Sandhurst Town Council advertising for new tenders for a ten year lease this month.

The beloved local eatery has been awarded a four-star rating on Trip Advisor, with many satisfied customers leaving positive comments about the food and customer service.

A customer said: “I have been going to Pistachios regularly for the last few years now. And whether it is a quick coffee, Ice cream or Cake treat with the kids, my lunch time favourite Club Sandwhich or the Scrumptious Full English I am never disappointed.

“The staff are always friendly and happy to tweak the menu to suit your particular taste (or fussy eating kids). They even have dogs Ice Cream and a water bowl for the dogs.

“Whether you enjoy the sunshine on their outside benches, or relax inside (or even thanks to lockdown, just get a quick take-away), I have always left having enjoyed my purchase.”

A manager at the café said: “As far as I am aware the cafe is still in negotiations about expanding the lease for another 10 years.”

Whoever becomes the new tender, Sandhurst Town Council is insuring in one of their requirements that the establishment continues its tradition as a community centred facility and a place where locals can enjoy coming together at regular events throughout the year.
