1. Crowthorne police incident: Man charged with assaulting officers

Bracknell News:

A CROWTHORNE man has been charged with a string of offences after a police officer was taken to hospital with head injuries earlier this week.

Stephen Adby, of Crowthorne, was charged with a count of assault by beating, a count of criminal damage, two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker, one count of driving when alcohol level was above the limit, one count of driving while disqualified, one count of taking a motor vehicle without the owners’ consent and one count of driving with no insurance.

2. John Sillett: Alleged victim sent message to Wokingham coach

Bracknell News:

THE ALLEGED victim of sexual abuse by a former Olympic showjumping coach sent him a message saying "I love you" as he lay ill in hospital, a court has heard.

John Sillett, who trained riders for the 2016 Rio Games, faces five counts of rape, five of assault by penetration and two of sexual assault.

The 55-year-old's trial at Winchester Crown Court has heard that the assaults, all involving the same girl, are alleged to have started when she was aged between 12 and 13.

3. Twyford 2,500 home plan going ahead despite local plan snub

Bracknell News:

A developer is ploughing ahead with its plans for a 2,500 home development in a Berkshire village, despite the scheme apparently being snubbed in the Wokingham Local Plan update.

Berkeley Group has a plan to build 2,500 ‘low carbon’ homes on land to the east of Twyford.

The development has been called ‘Twyford Gardens’, and it would involve building new business space and community amenities, including shops, parks, a health centre, nursery and  primary school, and even a train station on the countryside.

4. Bracknell police station closing ‘hasn’t affected crime’

Bracknell News:

CRIME in Bracknell has doubled in the past year but authorities insist it is under control and has nothing to do with the closure of the town’s police station.

According to recent figures on police.uk, a record of trends the level of crime throughout the UK, the amount of crime reported in 'Bracknell town' alone has risen from 31 incidents in December 2020 to 62 in November 2021.

These include incidents of theft, public order, shop lifting, and the most prevalent crime reports being violence and sexual offences.

5. Bracknell: council tax increase proposed to pay for services

Bracknell News:

The amount Bracknell Forest Council wants to spend this year has been revealed – and its massive.

Bracknell Forest Council  is set to spend nearly £90m in the 2022/23 financial year.

In full, the council will spend £89,355,000, which was announced during a discussion of the council’s revenue budget proposals by its executive committee in December.
