Everyday Active have announced that entries for Bracknell's 38th annual half marathon have now opened for their biggest event to date.

With over 1000 participants expecting to run the community led half marathon, organisers are hoping to introduce an iniatiative to reduce the amount of plastic bottles and cups left after everyone has left the area.

Mark Tennant, Area Contract Manager at Everyone Active said: “The Lexicon Bracknell Half Marathon has been a great success in the past, and next year’s event is set to be bigger and better, whilst doing all we can to protect the environment.

The half-marathon is organised by Everyday active in conjunction with Bracknell forest council and also celebrates headline sponsor The Lexicon’s fifth birthday.

Rob Morris, general manager at The Lexicon said: “We are delighted to be entering our fifth year of sponsorship for this fabulous community event.

“It attracts runners from far and wide plus a huge local contingent.  And of course, if you don’t fancy running it yourself you can come and support along the route on the day.”

The event will be taking place on May 15, 2022 and will see runners of every ability and skill level experience the flat 13 mile route around Bracknell and surrounding areas.

Mark Tennant added: “We’re delighted to be working alongside Bracknell Forest Council and The Lexicon again to host such a fantastic event. We’re looking forward to welcoming new and returning athletes of all abilities and we would love to see as many local supporters as possible cheer on our runners.”

Cllr John Harrison, Executive Member for Culture, Delivery and Public Protection, said that he always enjoys seeing the residents coming out to give support and encouragement to the runners along the full route.

“This half marathon brings our borough together to enjoy a fantastic community event. I look forward to hearing the cheers all the way to the finish line in our fantastic town centre.”

Everyday Active and Bracknell Forest Council are urging budding athletes in training to enter this years half marathon.
