THOUSANDS of pounds have been pocketed by some of the county's MPs on top of their yearly salaries.

From having second jobs to receiving gifts and hefty sums from donors, some of our MPs have seen massive amounts paid to them in the past year.

Today, The News has lifted the lid on the figures behind our politicians which have revealed some rather interesting results.

This comes as what politicians earn in their spare time has come under intense scrutiny after it emerged Conservative MP Sir Geoffrey Cox earned about £900,000, last year.

In September 2021, James Sunderland accepted tickets for Goodwood Revival when just three months earlier he had pleaded with parliament for it to be authorised as a pilot event.

He said during a parliamentary debate on June 16 "when the list of authorised pilots is released, it must include flagship global events such as the Euros, Wimbledon, the British Grand Prix, the Chelsea Flower Show and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Adding: "I am afraid that the alternative would be cataclysmic."

The tickets were gifted to him by The Goodwood Estate Company to the value of £1,440.

The entry also says on July 18, 2021, Mr Sunderland accepted two tickets to attend the British Formula 1 GP at Silverstone, valued at £1,516.80.

He was also paid £7.558.67 to visit the Qatar Embassy with flights, internal transport, food, accommodation and Covid testing included during October 7 to 11, 2021.

This was to meet ministers and officials to discuss Qatar's humanitarian and political response to the Afghanistan crisis.

An entry of £264 also appears on the register where Mr Sunderland had domestic transport and meals for two people paid in his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This was with the parliamentary delegation with the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Armed Forces to meet current politicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina and to learn about the Bosnian War.

He said: "All of my interests have been correctly registered in line with the rules. They relate to my declared Parliamentary roles and responsibilities. You will also have spotted that none of these costs are attributable to the taxpayer and that I do not earn any money from consultancy, lobbying, contract work or second jobs".
