Take a look at some of the interesting planning applications that have been submitted in our area this week.

One plan includes building nine new homes on a field in the village of Winkfield Row in Bracknell Forest, or another involves a plan to convert offices in Crowthorne into flats.

In Wokingham, the new owners of a 16th Century cottage have applied to make changes to the historic home, and Costco in Reading has applied to build a private fuel filling station for its customers.

Nine new homes to replace current house in Winkfield Row (21/00868/FUL)

The owners of Larkfield house in Winkfield Row want to demolish it and replace it with nine new homes.

Larkfield is currently a 2.5 storey house in Chavey Down Road, and it would be demolished to make way for an access road for the nine homes.

According to floorplans submitted, eight of these would be four bedroom and one of these would be a one bedroom home.

These new homes would be built on the field to the rear of Larkfield. Map images of the field show some outbuildings located there.

It is unclear whether these buildings will be demolished as part of the plans as well.

The applicant has submitted a Design and Access Statement with the plan, but the link to it on the planning portal returns a ‘504 Gateway Timeout’ message.

A plans to demolish Larkfield and build 10 homes on the field (reference 18/00119/FUL ) was refused in September 2018.

Conversion of offices into flats in Crowthorne (21/00870/FUL)

Developers have applied to convert empty offices in Crowthorne into three one bedroom flats.

The plan relates to 283 High Street, a building which has been unoccupied for nearly two years.

Now developers want to convert the rooms on the first floor which used to serve as offices.

The first floor would have two bedrooms, with a loft conversion providing an additional bedroom.

Oddly enough, the living quarters for one of the new occupants would be on the ground floor, with them being provided a bedroom on the first floor, according to proposed floor plans.

An office on the ground floor of the building would be retained.

The proposal is for the retention of the existing ground floor retail/office space

and conversion and extension to provide 3 No one bedroom flats.

Loft conversion at historic house in town centre (Wokingham app 213388)

The owners of Rose Cottage in Wokingham want to convert the loft into a new bedroom.

The loft is currently being used as storage space but the new owners want it to be made into a bedroom with a shower ensuite.

The plan also involves extensive works inside the home so it can be improved.

These include adding a partition wall, insulating the roof, adding roof lights, and removing an existing wall between the kitchen and the living room.

Because Rose Cottage is Grade II Listed, the owners have had to submit a Heritage Statement to support the application.

The house in Rose Street dates back to the 16th Century, and used to serve as a pub, first called The Cock Inn and later The White Hart Inn, before it got turned into a home.

Application for private filling station at Reading Costco (Wokingham app 213223)

Costco has applied to build a new petrol filling station for its members at its huge facility in South Oak Way, Reading.

In order for the petrol station to be built, the car park needs to be reconfigured.

Costco is open to members only, and it currently has 17 petrol filling stations.

If approved, the station will create three new jobs and provide 18 filling positions across nine pump fixtures.

The company had submitted a plan to build a filling station last year, but subsequently withdrew it.

Although Costco is located north of the M4 in Reading, it actually falls within the Shinfield Parish area, which is part of Wokingham Borough.
