Two houses have been burgled in Wokingham in two days and £600 stolen from a man in his nineties.

On Tuesday, a woman in her twenties, returned home around 8.50pm to find her house in Delane Drive had been broken into through the kitchen window but nothing was taken.

Two days later, £600 was stolen from the Sturges Road home of a man in his nineties some time before 8pm. Entry was also gained through the kitchen window.

Investigating Officer PC Kelly Ware said: “The details of these incidents, and others in the local area, have similar ways of gaining entry to the property.

“We understand these incidents may be concerning to the local community, so we recommend to ensure that you close and lock all of your windows and doors before you leave the house.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed these incidents, or has any information about what happened, to please come forward.”

The offender in the first burglary was described as a male of average build who left the property at the back of the garden towards Churchill Drive.
