A MOTHER of two has been crowned as the first Ms Great Britain Classic this month, becoming the first person to win in the over 40s division.

Kirsty Fletcher, aged 52, from Blackwater near Sandhurst, was given the award at the Miss Great Britain beauty pageant which took place on Friday, September 17.

Mrs Fletcher, who is married with two adult children, owns a spa business in Blackwater. She was crowned Ms Great Britain Classic, the division for women over the age of 40.

She explained the pageant recently celebrated its 75th anniversary and is the longest running pageant in Great Britain.

Kirsty entered her first beauty pageant when she was 44 years old having been encouraged by her daughter Daisy who had won various titles herself.

Mrs Fletcher said: "It’s a HUGE honour to be crowned the first ever Ms Great Britain Classic.

"Miss Great Britain has a 76 year history and is iconic. To be entrusted with the responsibility of this brand new title and represent all of us women in their 40s, 50s and beyond means the world.

"My platform is Flourishing In Your Fifties and my aim is to inspire as many women as I can to flourish and embrace what can only be described as a new chapter in our lives, whether that’s by encouraging ladies over 50 to be brave and enter this competition or in everyday life.

"I am excited to continue my charity fundraising supporting Cancer Research UK and Alex’s Wish and am really excited for this next twelve months."
