Another week means another round of planning applications that have been lodged in our area recently.

The biggest plan is to convert rooms at the closed Fat Face store into flats in Wokingham town centre.

Elsewhere, the elite Reddam House school near Wokingham has applied to remove toilets and conduct works on the school’s historic main building.

In Bracknell Forest, the owners of a historic house in Winkfield have applied to do extensive works to the home.

Conversion of shop floors into flats in Wokingham town centre (Wokingham app 212901)

An application has been submitted to convert rooms at the closed Fat Face shop in Wokingham town centre into two self-contained flats.

Fat Face used to occupy 15, Market Place in Wokingham, which is a three storey white terraced building that is Grade II listed.

The developers want to convert the first and second floors of the building into two self-contained flats.

The ground floor of the building, the retail unit Fat Face occupied, will be retained for another business to take over.

The first and second floors were previously used as storage areas and more for the shop when it was open, providing ‘ancillary use’ for the business.

Now the developers want to make the first floor a two-bedroom flat with a combined kitchen and living room area, and the second floor into a one-bedroom flat with a kitchen living room and a study.

Fat Face is believed to have closed on Saturday, August 28. The shop is listed as permanently closed on Google. Stores in Reading and Bracknell remain open.

Work on toilets at elite private school near Wokingham ((Wokingham app 212872)

Reddam House, a mixed-sex private school in Sindlesham, has applied to reconfigure an existing toilet room and other rooms to create 12 boarding rooms for pupils.

Additionally, the internal works proposed would provide a social space where the communal toilet room used to be.

Agents for the school have said that its existing boarding rooms are at capacity, and that it no longer favours communal toilets as private toilets are more accommodating for LGBTQ+ students and communal toilets increase the risk of illnesses spreading.

All of the new boarding rooms would be ensuite.

Finally, the plan involves an extension to the existing plumbing to the exterior of the building and through an existing wall.

The plan relates to the roof level of the school’s main building, which is Grade II listed and dates back to the late 1800s.

Extensive redevelopment of historic house in Winkfield (21/00768/LB and 21/00767/FUL)

Here, the owners want to build a two storey rear extension and convert a stable annexe into habitable accommodation at Wall House in Winkfield.

The extension would provide a new kitchen living area and a fourth bedroom for the property. You can see floor plans for the proposed extension in the gallery above.

Because Wall House is Grade II listed, the applicants have also had to submit a listed building application.

The building dates back to the mid to late 15th Century, and used to be known as the Prince of Wales Public House before it became a home.

Here, the owners want to build an extension to their home to increase the size of their living room.

The plan has been submitted by the owners of 40 Agar Crescent in Bracknell.
