A new activity centre for a popular country park in the area has opened.

The Activity Centre at Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst opened on the Bank Holiday weekend.

The activity centre, serves as a base for visitors of the park to book activities, boat hires and nature buggies, and also has a cafe and changing room for those enjoying watersports.

Photos of the opening show a family wondering round the two storey centre, and the sunset over the park.

The centre was built by Wokingham Borough Council.

A post announcing the news on the council’s Facebook page said: “The brand new Dinton Activity Centre at Dinton Pastures Country Park opened its doors to the public this bank holiday weekend.

“The centre is still undergoing some finishing building work, but it’s great to see visitors enjoying themselves at this amazing new facility.”

It is understood that the work referred to in the Facebook post will be completed by Saturday, September 11.

Initial designs for the centre were lampooned when they were revealed in November 2019.

This prompted the council to go back to the drawing board, with the new designs being approved in August last year.

The activity centre also comes with 86 parking spaces.

The opening of the centre is not the only big news coming from Dinton Pastures either.

In June, the council began a process to look for a catering operator to run a restaurant at The Dragonfly Café in the park.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service has asked the council for an update on the catering operator procurement process but has not received a response so far.
