Amersham scenes through the years

This first photo, from around the 1900s, is of Haddon’s Pharmacy and Dispensing Chemist, in the High Street, with extensive sign-writing to describe the range of goods sold.

It was run by Albert Haddon and later, by his son Laurie. It is now country clothing company Orvis.

This picture is from the late 1960s. Looking east, you can see the northern side of the eastern end of the High Street, with the Market Hall and Market Square visible.

The scene is almost identical today.
