A SUPERMARKET has apologised to drivers after a number of cars broke down over the weekend from 'contaminated diesel'

On Sunday, August 15, a small number of customers using the petrol station at the Tesco, Sandhurst Extra experienced their cars breaking down.

Drivers who visited the petrol pump at about midday who used the contaminated diesel have been urged to contact Tesco's customer service team.

A spokesman at Tesco said: "There was a brief window of time on Sunday when a small number customers of the petrol station at our Sandhurst Extra refuelled their cars at a diesel pump that had been contaminated with water.

"We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused and we are looking into how this happened.

"We are contacting customers who have made us aware that they were impacted and we’ll cover the cost of any repairs needed to their vehicles as a direct result of this.”

Tesco has closed its diesel tank whilst investigations are underway into how it happened.

Drivers have also been reassured that the store will cover cost of repairs for cars that have been affected.
