A new golfing centre that will carry on the legacy of a long running golf club has opened in Bracknell.

Bracknell Golfplex has opened at the site of the Blue Mountain Golf Club in Binfield.

Although the golf club site is undergoing a massive redevelopment, the new Golfplex will be carrying on the site’s history as a location for golfing.

Golf service manager Bayley Tustin said: “So far it’s been absolutely fantastic. I’m absolutely delighted.

“I personally used to come here coaching with our director Neil Dainton before the closure. I’m super excited to be back, it’s such a great facility.

“It’s so user friendly, from little kids to families to competitive golfers, we want them to be comfortable in a fun, exciting environment. We have Sky Sports and music running at the driving range, and the outfield on the range is one of the most impressive I’ve seen.”

The Golfplex opened yesterday (Monday, July 12), with activities running from 10am to 10pm everyday (last bookings at 9pm).

The Golfplex currently sports a toptracer driving range, a nine hole ‘academy’ golf course for all ages, and a cafe bar where guests can enjoy stonebaked pizzas and a range of soft and alcoholic drinks.

An adventure golf course for casual players is set to open in early August.

Mr Tustin said: “The course has been purposefully landscaped, the targets are highly visible and colourful, and the aesthetics of the place looks great.

“The academy course is great for amateur golfers to gain confidence, but it’s also fantastic facility for experienced golfers to practice.”

As for the bar and cafe, Mr Tustin said confidently: “The pizza here is amazing, I can vouch for that. People can come in for a social occasion, they can have a drink or something to eat, even if they’re not golfers. There’s a really nice family friendly vibe around the whole facility. There is no dress code, which takes away the old fashioned stigma some golf courses have given the game in the past.

“We want to make golf cool again. I’m really looking forward to the journey ahead for everybody.”
