ALL ADULTS across the Wokingham borough can get vaccinated at the local station, it was announced this week.

The temporary vaccine hub, stationed at Bulmershe Leisure Centre, Woodley, was previously only accepting residents aged between 18-24 within the Bulmershe & Whitegates, Evendons, Norreys and Wescott wards, however the Wokingham Borough Council stated yesterday (June 22) that all residents in the borough who are over the age of 18 and are yet to receive their first vaccine are now able to do so.

Within the first week, more than 2,500 young people received their first dose.

Students at the University of Reading who also want to be vaccinated are now also able to do so.

Cllr Charles Margetts, executive member for health, well-being and adult social care said: “We had a great first week, vaccinating 2,650 people.

"There are busy periods in the morning and early evening when the queues get a little longer, so if you don’t want to wait plan your visit during the quieter times from around midday to 3pm.

Bracknell News:

“Although the centre is open to anyone over 18 in the borough, we especially want young adults (aged 18 to 30) to come out and get vaccinated.

"It’s so important – the sooner you get your first jab, the sooner you’ll get your second and so the sooner you will be well-protected.

"We don’t know what the rules will be for university students in the autumn or on foreign travel and other opportunities later in the year, so better to get protected as quickly as you can.

"To protect yourself and your older family and friends, get the jab.

“We’ve worked with the NHS to bring this great opportunity to all adults in Wokingham Borough to get a jab without having to wait for an appointment through the NHS booking system and I am sure we will see a lot more coming along in coming days.”

The vaccine hub launched on June 15 and will run from 9.30am to 8.30pm until Sunday, June 27, however the queue will be closed once capacity has been reached (this is usually around 6.30/7pm).

Attendees need to bring their proof of address, proof of ID, and need to have their NHS number ready.
