A MUM who is taking part in a beauty pageant later this year is planning to skydive to raise money for charity.

Kirsty Fletcher, 51, from Blackwater is a finalist in the Miss Great Britain competition which is due to take place in September this year.

She will be competing in the 'classic division' which is specifically for women over 40 years of age.

As part of the Miss Great Britain contest, contestants will be raising money for two chosen charities.

These are Cancer Research UK and Alex's Wish which raises funds for treatment for people with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

So far Kirsty has raised more than £1,000 through her fundraising efforts.

Kirsty owns her own beauty boutique called Spa Angels and has been raffling treatments to raise money and holding virtual bingo nights.

She explained the skydive will be taking place in August.

She added: "I am absolutely terrified of heights.

"I can’t even believe I am actually going to be doing this."

Kirsty said by taking part in the competition she hopes to encourage and inspire women to flourish in their 50s and beyond.

She wants women to "go out and live a fulfilling life".

She added she "can't wait" for the competition later this year.
