Some of Berkshire's wealthiest people have been revealed in a public list, with some of the UK's millionaires and billionaires all living close to our doorsteps.

This year's Sunday Times Rich List has listed 250 of the wealthiest people in the country - a number of which hail from Berkshire.

UK billionaires have seen their fortunes soar by more than a fifth as they shook off the financial toll of the pandemic, according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List.

The list revealed that there are now a record 171 billionaires in the UK, with Ukranian-born Sir Leonard Blavatnik topping the pile as the richest person in the country.

From Dragons Den to chemicals, the three billionaires and two multi-millionaires in the county have made their money through a variety of different ways.

Here are the richest people with connections to Berkshire:

Sir Dennis and Lady Gillings

Coming in at 104th place are the Gilling's family, who own Reading-based pharmaceuticals giant Quintiles.

The company changed its name in 2017 to IQVIA and Gilling's launched the company with the goal of making clinical trials for drugs testing faster and more efficient.

They are thought to be worth £1.557 billion, up by £624,000,000.

Peter Jones

Dragons Den TV personality and entrepreneur Peter Jones was born in Langley, Slough and went to Desborough School in Maidenhead and then The Windsor Boy's school.

Mr Jones has been bumped up to 150th place on the rich list.

His current net worth is now £1.157bn, up £65m on 2020.

Guy, George, Alannah and Galen Weston and family

Buckinghamshire born retail tycoons Galen Weston handed over the chair at Selfridges to daughter Alannah. Galen is married to former Dublin model Hilary, who built up Primark.

The popular British retailer is located in areas across Berkshire - including Reading town centre, Bracknell and Slough.

Ian and Richard Livingston

Cliveden House

The Livingston brothers have ranked 27th in the Sunday Times Rich List, boasting a net worth of £6.1 billion.

Ian and Richard own Cliveden House in Taplow, Berkshire and the Berkshire mansion was at the centre of the Profumo scandal in 1961.
