With pubs set to welcome punters back inside next week as lockdown measures are eased further, many people are beginning to plan where they are going to enjoy their first indoor pint.

We've taken a look at the five highest rated pubs in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead according to Trip Advisor.

Slough Observer:

1. Crown and Cushion

Taking the top spot is the Crown and Cushion in Eton.

Having accumulated 129 'excellent' ratings, the highest available, from 187 reviews, it is the most popular pub in our area according to Trip Advisor.

One happy punter wrote: "Whenever in Windsor we always try to pop into this lovely pub in Eton.

"Both food and drink is always very good.

"Great prices,good size portions of food at really good prices and the staff are always very polite.

2. Queen Charlotte 

Second in the list is Queen Charlotte in Windsor.

Queen Charlotte has picked up a total of 81 'excellent' ratings and 75 'very good' rankings from a total of 195 reviews.

Many reviewers praised the gin selection available at the pub, with one reviewer saying: "Came here twice while visiting Windsor as it was so close to the hotel, if you love your gins its defiantly one to visit.

"Has a huge gin menu and not too expensive prices.

"Recommend."

3. The Piper Art

With 68 excellent reviews from the 100 submitted, The Piper Art takes the bronze medal on this list.

A reviewer in October wrote: "We stopped here for a ‘quick half’ and stayed for seconds as well as trying a whisky.

"Lovely modern bar with an excellent lady behind the bar for whom nothing was too much trouble.

"Lovely place to visit."

4. The Earl of Cornwall

Slough's The Earl of Cornwall takes fourth spot in the list.

It has picked up an impressive 72 excellent reviews out of 110 total ratings.

One satisfied customer said: "Stayed over in the Holiday Inn and visited the Earl of Cornwall on our first night.

"Staff were amazing food was amazing. Great atmosphere. So good we decided to return the second night.

"Such a great night again.

"With raising money for Macmillan Cancer Research.

"Got to meet the owner, and such a lovely man. Owners and staff should be proud."

Finishing off the list is The Long Barn in Slough.

It has accumulated substantially fewer reviews than others on this list, but with 15 out of 16 reviews being 'excellent' - it is clearly a high quality pub.

One such review said: A lovely atmosphere in the pub and wonderful customer service from all staff.
