Train spotters will have a chance to catch a glimpse of one of the most historic steam locomotives in Slough this summer.

The 1935-built 45596 Bahamas locomotive is set to stop in Slough on four dates across the summer, following the easing of Covid restrictions.

The train will come through Slough on Saturday, July 24 after it departs from London Paddington route for the Bristol channel resort of Minehead.

Bahamas will join up with ‘The Royal Duchy’ special train one week later on Sunday, August 1 when it travels through Slough once more.

The Railway Touring Company’s managing director Kelly Osborne said: "We are very excited to have secured these dates with Bahamas.

“We look forward to working with the Bahamas crew to provide some great days out recreating the golden age of rail travel.

"After a very tough 15 months for the heritage rail industry, it’s tremendous to see such enthusiasm and support from people.”
