NEW pitches could be built at a school field if new plans are given the go-ahead.

That’s one of a number of interesting planning applications submitted to Bracknell Forest Council in the past week.

Winkfield sports pitch plans (planning reference 21/00260/FUL)

Lambrook School in Winkfield Row has applied to build an astroturf multi-use games area (MUGA) and a netball court with associated fencing and car parking on its field to the right of Cricketers Lane.

But a farmer has raised serious issues over flooding saying how “the whole area is water logged in this part of the world" so "putting a pitch there will make it worse.”

So far, the plan for the pitches has received 33 objections and one comment in support.

Rebrand of Black Boy Pub (Wokingham planning app:211271)

Greene King, the owners of The Black Boy pub, have applied to rename it The Shinfield Arms.

The massive chain, which runs approximately 3,100 pubs, chose to rename The Black Boy pub because of its ‘racist connotations’.

However, before the name is changed for good, Greene King must receive advertising consent from Wokingham Borough Council.

Controversial 2,000-homes plan 

A campaigner against a 2,000 homes project near Bracknell has slammed the council over IT issues on its planning website.

The campaigner says the issues mean that him and his colleagues are unable to comment on Bracknell Forest Council’s Emerging Local Plan.
