MORE THAN 60 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Berkshire in the last 24 hours, the latest data shows.

Public Health England has recorded 62 new lab-confirmed cases in the past 24 hours, in areas including Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, West Berkshire, Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead.

These figures, correct as of Sunday, March 28 at 4pm, bring the latest total for the county to 55,493.

The local breakdown for the past 24 hours as follows:

Reading - 2 cases, 10,748 total

Bracknell Forest - 11 cases, 6,977 total

Wokingham - 6 cases, 8,106 total

West Berkshire - 1 case, 6,275 total

Slough - 17 cases, 15,078 total

Windsor and Maidenhead - 15 cases, 8,309 total

There have now been 4,333,042 people across the UK who have tested positive for Covid-19.

The latest seven-day rate per 100,000 people locally are as follows:

Bracknell Forest - 31 (Compared to 38.4 on March 12)

Wokingham - 32.1 (Compared to 33.9 on March 12)

Reading - 43.3 (Compared to 33.4 on March 12)

West Berkshire - 31.6 (Compared to 26.5 on March 12)

Slough - 66.2 (Compared to 83.6 on March 12)

The latest daily total of coronavirus cases reported in the UK is now at a daily increase of 3,862.

In today's national coronavirus news:

More than 30 million people in the UK have now received a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

A total of 30,151,287 people had their first dose between December 8 and March 27 – about 57% of all UK adults, the Department of Health and Social Care said.

In addition, 3,527,481 people have had their second doses, totalling 33,678,768 jabs administered overall.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that more than 30 million people have now had the jab across the UK – including 650,000 vaccinations delivered yesterday.

“The vaccine is saving lives and is our route out of this pandemic. I want to say a massive thanks to the team.

“When you get the call – get the jab.”
